The National HVDC Centre is part of Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission, working together with Scottish Power Transmission, National Grid Electricity Transmission, and the Electricity System Operator.

The Centre is a testing facility that hosts detailed models (and control/protection hardware) from multiple suppliers and from TOs/ESO; and has the expertise (and technology infrastructure) to undertake specialist studies; to support the deployment of HVDC projects and mitigate any associated risks to the reliable operation, control and resilience of the GB network.
