Topic of Doctoral Thesis

Open-source and closed-source intellectual property models to support interoperability and information sharing

Research Objectives:

This research has three main objectives:

a. To identify whether the current legal frameworks allowing for open-source and closed-source software elements satisfies the needs of stakeholders enabling interconnectivity and interoperability;

b. To investigate legal models that can meet the needs of the different stakeholders;

c. To investigate ways that data can be shared in a way that satisfies fair competition rules.

The methodology used will be a combination of doctrinal and empirical research.

Planned secondment(s):

Academic: RWTH, Ilka Jahn, 3-6 months, purpose: get insight into engineering aspects of interoperability/ information sharing.

Industrial: CRESYM, Sébastien Lepy, 3-6 months, purpose: use CRESYM industrial network to get insight into how IT/IP aspects are handled in different companies and TSOs.

Motivation to work in Inter-oPEn

I am highly interested in interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of law and digital governance. Working with Inter-oPEn allows me to apply my expertise in IT & IP law while collaborating on innovative solutions that shape future legal and compliance frameworks, particularly in the energy sector.
